AGENDA REPORT
DATE: March 25, 2024
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Police Department Indoor Shooting Range Target System
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Police Department indoor shooting range target system (located at 1 Police Place) has been in service since 2005, and has endured years of use, wear and tear, and outlived its useful lifecycle. The current equipment and supporting items are outdated and inoperable and will not support impending Florida Department of Law Enforcement firearm qualification standards set to go into effect in July 2024. Components of a new target system include the latest technology that will improve officer efficiency and instructor effectiveness, as well as provide officers with the ability to meet new training standards. A new system includes four shooting lanes, turning targets, sound absorbing wall panels, and a rubber berm backstop.
A new, modern target system can be supplied and installed by Action Target, via State of Utah Cooperative Contract MA3464. The cost to complete this work is $102,307.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Action Target, Inc., to replace the Police Department's indoor shooting range target system, via piggyback of State of Utah Cooperative Contract MA3464, for $102,307.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Police Impact Fee Fund, CIP # PD010, Org # 35453001,
Obj # 462000 - Indoor Firearms Range.
