SUBJECT: Authorization to Piggyback the Polk County Contract with
Killebrew, Inc. for Utility Repair & Construction for Urgent
Projects
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Utilities Department (Utilities) has several repair/replacement projects that are urgent in nature at costs requiring competitive bidding. The work will require construction contracts for each project, which takes a minimum of 120 days from bid development to Notice to Proceed to address the projects.
The City can complete these projects utilizing Killebrew, Inc. via piggyback of Polk County Contract 19-031 for Utilities Construction Services. The term of the agreement is through August 1, 2024. Utilizing Polk County’s contract with Killebrew, Inc. will facilitate completing several urgent projects by using the previously bid contract, reducing time for bid preparation, advertising, and review, expediting these projects by several months, all within our Procurement requirements.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Killebrew, Inc. that incorporates the Polk County Contract for Utilities Construction Services for design and construction services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Individual consultant work orders will be issued for Commission approval based on availability of budgeted funds in various capital accounts.
