                                                               AGENDA REPORT

DATE:                                          March 25, 2024

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Reynolds Street (US92) Sewer Main

Preliminary Investigation for Repair and Replacement

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The sewer main on Reynolds Street is failing. This main collects wastewater from all of the downtown Plant City area. Because the main goes under the CSX tracks and is located in the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) right-of-way, the repair will require coordination with CSX and the FDOT.

To understand the extent of work for this repair, proper subsurface underground engineering (SUE) to assess the current condition is required. Planning and logistics for maintenance of the wastewater flow, maintenance of traffic, and access to business in the area will be outlined prior to the actual repair work being performed.  Due to the sudden and unexpected nature of this repair, a quote for the preliminary investigation work from Killebrew, Inc. for $66,117.50 has been approved.  A construction work order will be created once the scope is determined by the preliminary investigation is completed.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission ratify the City Manager’s authorization of the preliminary investigation engineering work order with Killebrew, Inc. in the amount of $66,117.50.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund - CIP # UM012 - Collection System Asset Management
