                                          AGENDA REPORT

DATE:                                          April 8, 2024

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Citywide Fiber Optic Installation Projects

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The City contracts with Precision Contracting Services, Inc. (PCS) for miscellaneous fiber optic installation projects, via piggyback of Palm Beach County Contract 19065. The Traffic Engineering Division is the main user of these services and individual agreements are prepared for projects that arise. Since 2020, the City spent an average of $63,384 annually for fiber optic projects.

The most current agreement with PCS for individual Traffic Operations projects is dated January 8, 2024, with a total not-to-exceed cost of $50,000. To streamline the award process and work more efficiently, staff determined it would be most effective to amend this agreement and include all Citywide fiber installation projects, at a not-to-exceed cost of $50,000 for each individual project. The efficiency gained will allow work to commence faster with less staff time dedicated to each project and allow all departments throughout the City access to the contract.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Precision Contracting Services, Inc., for fiber optic installation projects.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds are budgeted in various projects and charged accordingly.
