AGENDA REPORT

DATE: May 13, 2024

TO: City Commission

FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT: Vehicle and Equipment Purchases

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The City purchased ten used Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs with the amount budgeted for Fiscal Year 2023-24 and the City realized a savings. After all expenses, there will be residual funds that could be used to purchase four additional patrol vehicles, which have exceeded their useful lives.

The patrol vehicles can be replaced with four new Chevrolet Silverado Police Package pickup trucks purchased from Stingray Chevrolet, via piggyback of Florida Sheriff's Association contract FSA23-VEL31.0 for $215,031.

The four patrol vehicles can be outfitted for the Police Department by Dana Safety Supply, via piggyback of Bradford County contract BCSO2019-1, for $38,967.

In addition, two administrative vehicles (Ford Explorer SUVs) are being purchased for two new deputy chief positions from Jarrett Scott Ford for $86,198 ($43,099 each) by dispensing with the requirement for competitive award. The price offered by Jarrett Scott Ford is more affordable compared to the contract price of $44,255 (each) offered through the Florida Sheriff's Association contract.

The two administrative vehicles can be outfitted by Dana Safety Supply, via piggyback of Bradford County contract BCSO2019-1, for $19,484.

The total cost of this request is $359,680
Chevrolet Silverado and accessories (4) - $253,998
Ford Explorer and accessories (2) - $105,682

This request is brought forward as staff continues to adapt to the long-lasting and unusual market conditions associated with acquiring vehicles and equipment by sourcing these items outside the normal replacement cycle.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to:
