AGENDA REPORT
DATE: May 13, 2024
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Park Road Lift Station Generator Purchase
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On December 13, 2021, the City Commission approved American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funded projects, including the Park Road Collection System Extension. The City is experiencing rapid growth in the Northeast Quadrant region, and this project will provide a new lift station and associated force main connections to accommodate the additional flow from future growth.
After completion of design, the City Commission authorized the City Manager to execute Construction Work Order 21-024PU-RR-05C with Wharton-Smith, Inc. (W-S) for the Guaranteed Maximum Price of $3,667,557.00 for the Park Road Collection System on August 28, 2023.
During the beginning of project execution, the City and the contractor identified the generator as a good element of the project for owner-direct purchase (ODP) in order to save on sales tax. The City completed the deduct change order to remove the generator purchase from the executed construction work order at a sales tax savings of $9,157.74. The City can purchase a 100Kw standby generator from Tradewinds Power Corporation, through piggyback of Florida Sheriff's Association contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0, Spec #162, for $165,284.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt a resolution authorizing the purchase of a 100Kw standby generator, from Tradewinds Power Corporation, through piggyback of Florida Sheriff's Association contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0, Spec #162, for $165,284.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund, CIP # UM035 - Park Road Collection System Expansion.
