SUBJECT: Utility Adjustment for Florida Department of Transportation
Project FPID437789-1-52-01
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to replace the high mast lighting in various locations along I-75 (SR93A) and I-4 (SR600) in Hillsborough County. There are ten locations within Plant City included in this high mast lighting project.
During the FDOT project FPID437789-1-52-01 design review, the City identified the two proposed high mast lighting locations that conflict with the existing 8" water mains in FDOT's right-of-way (ROW): S. Frontage Road near Maryland Avenue and N. Frontage Road near Park Road.
FDOT requires the City to relocate the City-owned water mains to resolve the conflicts. The proposed letting date of the FDOT project is August 14, 2024. All utility adjustments must be completed prior to the FDOT project start.
The utilities department will utilize the City Project 24-021UM-TG for utilities construction services contract with Killbrew, Inc. for the utility adjustment work. The project construction scope includes relocating the sections of the 8” water main in S. Frontage Road and N. Frontage Road. The contractor proposed 90 days to complete the work from the notice to proceed date. The City will coordinate with FDOT to complete the utility adjustments to avoid delay in FDOT's schedule.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute a construction work order with Killebrew, Inc. in the amount of $150,143.84 for the utility adjustment work.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund, CIP # UM009 - IMPLEMENT - Water.
