AGENDA REPORT
DATE: July 8, 2024
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: McIntosh Park Wetland Expansion - Park Component Additions
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The McIntosh Integrated Water Management Plan is a multi-component program that includes a wetland expansion project that will result in the construction of a 100-150-acre wetland at the McIntosh Park site.
The City selected Dewberry Engineers, Inc. as the design consultant for the final design for the McIntosh Park Wetland Expansion project. The project is moving forward with the final design stage and the City would like to include the additional park components including a new parking lot, ranger station/restrooms and screen enclosure, and pavilion on top of the Florida mound.
City staff worked with the design consultant to develop the Engineering Work Order (EWO) including permitting, design and construction plans including electrical engineering, and construction engineering services. The project schedule will align with the McIntosh Wetland expansion.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) approved the cost-share funding agreement for the final design of the McIntosh Preserve Wetlands expansion project. The SWFWMD co-funding agreement provides a 50-50 cost share for this project.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute the EWO with Dewberry Engineers, Inc. in the amount of $53,540.88 for the McIntosh Park Wetland expansion park component additions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund CIP # UO033-IMPLMT347.
