SUBJECT: Hillsborough County Library Cooperative Interlocal Agreement
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This agreement is for the purpose of continuing a public library cooperative which provides coordinated library services throughout the county. In 1961, a cooperative relationship was established between the City of Plant City and Hillsborough County.
The first Cooperative Interlocal Agreement between the Cities of Plant City, Temple Terrace and the County for the provision of cooperative library service, was signed in September of 1999. Tampa Hillsborough Public Libraries (THPL) has made the municipal libraries sub-recipients of their State Aide to Libraries grant, which is applied for and awarded annually. State Aid to Libraries is an operating grant intended to fund library operating expenses. Hillsborough County maintains an interlocal agreement with Plant City and Temple Terrace for coordinated library services through the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative, and these sub-awards are outlined in the agreement.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission approve the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative Interlocal Agreement between the City of Plant City, the City of Temple Terrace, and Hillsborough County for the provision of library service.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This agreement provides the City $191,220 for Library operating funds. The amount has been the same since FY 2012. In addition, Hillsborough County provides technical support for library computer equipment valued at approximately $35,000 for FY 2024.
Funds are deposits in the General Fund, Org # 00134200, Obj # 337700 - County Grant.
