                                                               AGENDA REPORT

DATE:                                          September 9, 2024

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Agreement with local independent youth sports organizations

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

For many years five local youth sports organizations have been utilizing and operating their sports leagues throughout four City athletic complexes, including Mike Sansone Community Park, Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex, Ellis-Methvin Park, and the Randy L. Larson Softball Four-Plex. The local youth sports organizations consist of the Plant City Dolphins Football and Cheer, Plant City Lancers Soccer, Ostingers Baseball Academy, Plant City Colts Football and Cheer, and the Plant City Little League.

The agreements allow for great financial savings for the users and creates affordable athletic opportunities for youth throughout the entire community.  One agreement is exclusively for the Plant City Little League due to the ownership, operation, and maintenance of the Alderholt Concession Building. The second agreement is for all other organizations that utilize shared spaces within our City parks.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission approve a resolution to authorize the City Manager to execute  agreements between the City of Plant City and the five local youth sports organizations: Plant City Dolphins Football and Cheer, Plant City Lancers Soccer, Ostingers Baseball Academy, Plant City Colts Football and Cheer, and the Plant City Little League on a per season basis deeming the agreements are in the best interest of the City.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Each organization is required to pay a $30.00 per player fee to the City each season. The fees collected by the City are used to help offset operational expenses and park improvements. The user fees are posted in the General Fund Org # 00133600, Obj # 347215 - Recreation Revenue: Field Rentals.
