SUBJECT: Madrid EWO 21-020-03B-03 Modification 2
Lift Station 7 Wet Well Site Stabilization
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On June 24, 2024, the City Commission approved Modification 1 for the Sinkhole Stabilization Plan at Lift Station 7’s wet well location. Work began on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
On July 15, 2024, Madrid informed staff that, due to unforeseen soil conditions, additional stabilization materials were required beyond the initial estimate, leading to cost overruns. Madrid requested authorization to proceed with the additional work necessary to complete the stabilization. To ensure the project stayed on schedule, authorization was granted for the continued implementation of the soil stabilization plan.
The original project work order included an add/deduct quantity unit price for overruns. The stabilization plan required an additional 18’ of casing, an additional 160 cubic yards of grout, and 4 additional days of monitoring. The cost for the additional work with the 20% markup for CPWG contract administration is $60,028.80. There is an additional $1,282.25 due to Madrid, for a misinterpretation of the Madrid/CPWG fees in Modification 1. The total amount for this change order is $61,311.05, bringing the total project cost to $157,864.23.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute EWO 21-020-03B-03 Modification 2 with Madrid/CPWG for soil stabilization of the Lift Station 7 Wet Well site.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in Utilities Project UM020 - Lift Station Upgrade/Replacement.
