AGENDA REPORT
DATE: September 23, 2024
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Sale of Dispositioned Equipment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On September 5, 2023, the City placed an order with Ditch Witch to purchase a new directional boring machine for the Utilities Maintenance Division for $176,432.98. The equipment was delivered to the City in September.
Upon delivery, the representative from Ditch Witch inspected the City’s 2014 Ditch Witch JT9 Directional Drill package being dispositioned and offered to purchase it from the City for $45,000. The 2014 equipment is unnecessary or unfit for the City’s use. Staff believes the price offered by Ditch Witch to be nearly double the amount of proceeds the dispositioned equipment would net at public auction.
Section 2-144, Plant City Code provides that property valued more than $25,000 that is unnecessary or unfit for the City’s use may be sold to private parties if so authorized by resolution of the City Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager to sell a 2014 Ditch Witch JT9 Directional Drill package, to Ditch Witch, for $45,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds will be deposited in the Water/Sewer Fund, Org # 40230000, Obj # 364410 - Sale of Equipment.
