TO:                                          City Commission

SUBJECT:                     Resolution approving Amendment No. 1 to City Manager’s employment agreement

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

At the special meeting on August 21, 2024, after the Mayor suggested a 4% salary increase for the City Attorney and City Clerk, the Mayor advised that in lieu of a 4% salary increase for the City Manager, he would like to work with the City Manager to propose a different type of compensation benefit package for the City Manager. The City Commission concurred.

The proposed resolution approves an amendment to the City Manager’s employment agreement. First, the City Manager is given an additional five days of annual vacation. Second, in lieu of the proposed 4% salary increase provided for other employees, the City’s contribution toward the City Manager’s 401(a) retirement plan will increase from 8% to 12% of the City Manager’s salary.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission adopt a resolution approving Amendment No. 1 to the City Manager’s employment agreement.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The amounts for the additional vacation and contribution to the retirement plan are within the City Manager’s budget.
