AGENDA REPORT
DATE: November 12, 2024
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Budget Amendment for Fiscal Year 2023-24
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On September 26, 2024, the City responded to Hurricane Helene and began debris cleanup on October 1, 2024. The EOC staff monitored the hurricane and the reimbursable payroll costs were absorbed by most of the operating budgets for Fiscal Year 2024. The fire department in General Fund could not absorb the cost for the hurricane because there were overruns in the salary and benefit category at the end of the year. This budget adjustment appropriates $434,400 for the fire department.
As part of the year-end review, there were a few line items over budget that required transfer from another division within the Fund. Street lighting, due to an increase from TECO, was over and $49,800 was transferred from Traffic. Credit card fees for utility billing was over and $114,800 was transferred from Utilities Operations. Solid Waste Residential and Commercial divisions saw an increase related to hurricane and $62,600 was transferred from the Recycling division.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt a resolution to approve an amendment to the budget for the year ending September 30, 2024, which provides for the above adjustment.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Details related to these items are listed on the attached resolution.
