AGENDA REPORT
DATE: November 12, 2024
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Furniture for Solid Waste and Utilities New Facility
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On September 25, 2023, the City Commission approved a construction contract with Manhattan Construction for the new Solid Waste and Utilities facility. With an estimated building completion date in February 2025, the departments have begun to work on the furniture purchase.
Commercial Design Services, Inc. located in Tampa, is the authorized dealer for multiple furniture manufactures under the Florida State and OMNIA purchase contracts. The Solid Waste and Utilities Departments would like to piggyback both the Florida State and OMNIA purchase contracts to purchase all required furniture for the new facility. The piggyback procurement tool is beneficial to reduce time and resources.
The scope of work includes all furniture and set up for the following areas in the new facility. The estimated production time is 8 weeks.
- 23 Standard Offices
- 4 Manager Offices
- 2 Director Offices
- 2 Break Rooms
- Lobby, Map Room, and Crew Ready Room
- Multi-purpose Room and 2 Conference Rooms
- 6 Workstations
- Printing and Mail Room
The total amount for the furniture purchase will be $351,073.66. This purchase will piggyback on two existing competitively bid contracts: the Florida State contract # 56120000-24-NY-ACS ($139,013.36) and the OMNIA purchase contract # 07-124 ($212,060.30).
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt a resolution authorizing the purchase of furniture from Commercial Design Services, Inc. through piggyback of Florida State contract # 56120000-24-NY-ACS, for $139,013.36 and OMNIA purchase contract # 07-124, for $212,060.30. The total purchase is $351,073.66.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water Sewer Fund, CIP # UM021-IMPLEMENT and the Solid Waste Fund, CIP # UM021-IMPLMT305. The purchase will be split 50/50.
