AGENDA REPORT
DATE: January 13, 2025
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: CDBG Sidewalk Project FY 2022-2023
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The FY23 Interlocal Funding Agreement with Hillsborough County provides for a significant sidewalk expansion project through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Subsequent modifications to the agreement were approved by Hillsborough County Commission in September 2023 and December 2024.
Early in 2024, a Sidewalk Feasibility Study was completed to evaluate the preferred locations for sidewalks to serve the Madison Park, Forest Park, and Robinson’s Airport Neighborhoods between the following corridors:
• along Airport Rd, from National Guard Drive to S. Woodrow Wilson Street
• along S. Woodrow Wilson Street, from Airport Rd to the CSX Railroad
• along Sammonds Rd, from S. Woodrow Wilson Street to SR 39/S. Alexander Street
This project is a continuation of that feasibility study and will complete the sidewalk design along the north side of Sammonds Rd for a total of 0.48 miles of new sidewalks. Drainage evaluation and modifications to the existing open ditch system are expected due to the improvements.
Utilizing the City’s continuing contracts for engineering services, staff developed Engineering Work Order (EWO) 21-020-02H-12 with Patel, Greene & Associates LLC (PGA) for the design and permitting efforts. Cost for the service is $192,047.27 and time for completion is 8 months from Notice-To-Proceed.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Engineering Work Order 21-020-02H-12 with Patel, Greene & Associates LLC for design, permitting, bid package preparation, and specifications, in the amount of $192,047.27.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the CDBG Fund, CIP # CS012 - Robinson Park Neighborhood.
