AGENDA REPORT
DATE: February 10, 2025
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: S. Collins St/James L. Redman Pkwy Resurfacing (Alexander St to Alsobrook St)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
In June 2017, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and City of Plant City executed an agreement that transferred State Road 39 (Collins Street/Wheeler Street) from the ownership and maintenance of FDOT to the City. In exchange, Alexander Street was transferred to FDOT/State Highway System (Resolution No. 88-2017).
South Collins St/James L. Redman Pwky from North of Alexander Street to North of Alsobrook Street (measuring approx. 1.27 miles), is due for resurfacing. Future Complete Street improvements are not anticipated within the coming 5 years and are not likely to significantly affect the pavement or curb structures. Due to the relatively heavy traffic volume, number of commercial driveway connections, and overall significance of this roadway, this project is recommended for design by an engineering consultant. The scope of work includes design, permitting, specifications, bidding assistance, and post-design services for resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (RRR) improvements.
Utilizing the City’s continuing contracts for engineering services, staff developed Engineering Work Order (EWO) 21-020-02E-01 with Florida Transportation Engineering, Inc. (FTE) for design, permitting, specifications, bidding assistance, and post-design services.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Engineering Work Order 21-020-02E-01 with Florida Transportation Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $310,354.84.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in CIP # ST026 - Street Resurfacing (1 Mil).
