SUBJECT: Transmittal public hearing for text amendment PC/CPA 24-08 amending Land Use Map 4 of the Future Land Use map series regarding the Preferred Land Use Scenario Map of the Northeast Master Plan located in the northeast quadrant of the City of Plant City.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This is a publicly initiated Text Amendment which proposes changes to Land Use Map 4 of the Future Land Use map series in the Comprehensive Plan regarding the Northeast Master Plan. The proposed Preferred Land Use Scenario Map has been updated to improve the readability of the map, reflect current development conditions and reconcile the land uses shown on the Preferred Land Use Scenario to match the Plant City Future Land Use Map. In addition, there are changes to the map that are strategic in nature, intending to update the map to address current and emerging issues in the community, and to accommodate increasing growth and unanticipated market demands.
On December 9, 2024 the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission found (10-0) this text amendment consistent with the Plant City Comprehensive Plan and on January 22, 2025, the Plant City Planning Board (6-0) found the map amendment consistent with the Plant City Comprehensive Plan. Attached for your consideration is a staff report from the Planning Commission analyzing and finding text amendment PC/CPA 24-08 consistent with the Imagine 2040: Plant City Comprehensive Plan.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Commission adopt a resolution directing staff to transmit PC/CPA 24-08 to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and other State and local agencies for their review and comment, as required by Chapter 163 Florida Statues.
