DATE:                                          February 24, 2025

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Resolution setting a public hearing on an ordinance to annex 17 parcels totaling 35 ± acres - ANX-2024-07 and ANX-2024-14.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Planning and Zoning Division has received voluntary annexation petitions for 17 parcels totaling 35 ± acres.

ANX-2024-07 contains five (5) parcels totaling 10.68± acres and is located on the east side of North Wilder Road, South of Park Road. The application states the reason for annexation is to provide ancillary services and office as a companion to the new South Florida Baptist Hospital.

ANX-2024-14 contains twelve (12) parcels totaling 24.38± acres and are located on the east and west sides of Charlie Taylor Road, south of Midway Road. The application states that the property owners would like to have the subject parcel(s) annexed into the City for long term future planning.

It has been concluded that the parcels are contiguous to the City of Plant City and reasonably compact, thereby not conflicting with any of the requirements of Chapter 171, Florida Statutes, for annexing properties.

These annexations will incur an additional two (2) tons of solid waste obligation from the City to Hillsborough County.

The annexation requests are scheduled to be heard by the Planning Board on February 26, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION

That the City Commission adopt a resolution setting a public hearing on the proposed annexations for April 14, 2025

FISCAL IMPACT:

The annexations, if approved, will provide tax revenue from future development.
