SUBJECT: Construction Work Order with Killebrew for FPID 454118-1-56-01 CR574/Reynolds St. from East of SR39 to W of US92 for Water Main Relocation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to replace the concrete culvert on CR574/Reynolds Street, located East of SR 39 and West of US92 (FPID 454118-1-56-01). During the design review, the Utilities Department identified conflicts between the existing City water and sewer mains and the proposed culvert structure.
The City hired CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) to complete the design to relocate the water and sewer mains, and both designs have been completed. The water main relocation must be completed before the FDOT project begins, while the sewer main relocation will be included as part of the FDOT project due to its location.
Because of the existing canal, horizontal directional drilling will be used to install a 6-inch water main under the culvert structure. Additionally, extensive maintenance of traffic is required, and pavement restoration is necessary to meet FDOT standards.
The Utilities Department worked with Killebrew, Inc. to develop a construction work order to hire Killebrew, Inc., via a piggyback contract with Polk County, to proceed with the water main relocation work. The estimated construction cost is $251,879.19.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute a construction work order with Killebrew for $251,879.19 to relocate the water main for FDOT project FPID 454118-1-56-01, CR574/Reynolds St., East of SR39 and West of US92.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in Water/Sewer CIP # UM009 - Water Line Replacement.
