TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Construction of Rowena Mays Athletic Park

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

On March 27, 2023, the City Commission approved Engineering Work Order (EWO) 21-020-01P-03 with WSP USA, Inc. (WSP) for full design of Rowena Mays Athletic Park, through the City’s continuing contracts for engineering services.

With the design phase nearly complete, staff began coordinating with Manhattan Construction Company (MCC) to develop a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the construction of the New Rowena Mays Athletic Park, through the City’s continuing contracts for Construction Manager At-Risk (CMAR) Services.

MCC has provided the City with a proposed GMP of $6,166,742, with a credit of $276,976 if a restroom alternate is selected. Staff has reviewed and determined the restroom alternate to best suit the City. The GMP with the credit is $5,889,766 and the construction duration is 17 months from Notice-to-Proceed.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute a Construction Work Order with Manhattan Construction Company, for the construction of Rowena Mays Athletic Park, with a GMP of $5,889,766.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract will be charge to CIP # PK027 - Rowena Mays Athletic Park. A budget adjustment is included in the agenda to provide additional funding for the project.
