SUBJECT: Supply and Delivery of 50% Caustic Soda
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Utilities Operations Division uses 50% Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide) for odor control of the wastewater headworks at the Water Reclamation Facility (WRF).
The City's Agreement with Odyssey Manufacturing Company (Odyssey) for supply and delivery of 50% caustic soda for $3.85 per gallon ended on March 20, 2025 with no renewals remaining. The City can continue to use Odyssey through piggyback of Gainesville Regional Utilities Contract 2023-049-A for $3.85 per gallon. The term of this agreement is through June 1, 2026, with two additional single year renewal terms provided that the Gainesville Regional Utilities contract is renewed. Annual usage is approximately $16,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Odyssey Manufacturing Company for supply and delivery of 50% Caustic Soda via piggyback of Gainesville Regional Utilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund, Org # 40257802, Obj # 452210 - Chemicals.
