AGENDA REPORT
DATE: May 12, 2025
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Water Treatment Plant No. 5, Change Order No. 4 Well Rehabilitation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The supply well for Water Treatment Plant 5, installed in 2006, has not been in service since its installation. The EPA sets legal limits for contaminants in drinking water, based on levels that protect human health and can be achieved using the best available technology. During recent clearing and testing of the well, iron levels exceeded the allowable limit set by the EPA. As a result, a rehabilitation plan was developed to address the issue, mitigate the contaminant, and allow the City to proceed with placing Water Treatment Plant 5 into service.
The change order provides an additional 220 days with substantial completion by July 4, 2025, and an additional cost of $103,471.25 bringing the total contract price to $9.708,393.30.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute a change order 4 with Kat Construction, Inc. to rehabilitate the service well at Water Treatment Plant 5.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund, CIP # UO010 - Water System Improvements - WTP5.
