SUBJECT: Resolution authorizing City Manager or City Manager's designee to approve all Mutual Aid Agreements involving Plant City Police Department and Plant City Fire Rescue.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
In the past, each mutual aid agreement involving either the Plant City Police Department or Plant City Fire Rescue have been approved separately by the City Commission. It is recommended, in order to streamline the process, to have a resolution authorizing the City Manager, or the City Manager’s designee, to approve and execute all Mutual Aid Agreements with other agencies. These are operational agreements and taking each Mutual Aid Agreement to the City Commission for approval can result in time delays that may include a lapse of the agreement for a period of time. Mutual Aid Agreements are also reviewed by the City Attorney. Many of these agreements have been in effect for years with minimal changes necessary when the agreements are renewed.
The resolution would authorize the City Manager or the City Manager’s designee to approve and execute all mutual aid agreements involving the Plant City Police Department and Plant City Fire Rescue.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Commission adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager or the City Manager’s designee to approve and execute all Mutual Aid Agreements for the Plant City Police Department and Plant City Fire Rescue.
