DATE:                                          August 11, 2025

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Tampa Electric Company Easement for Solid Waste and Utilities Department Building

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Construction of the new Solid Waste and Utilities Department facility has been completed. To support the provision of electric service, Tampa Electric Company (TECO) has installed the electrical meter at the rear of the building, adjacent to the electrical and IT rooms and backup generator.

In accordance with TECO’s requirements, a utility easement is necessary to allow for the placement, construction, operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of electrical infrastructure including meters and service lines serving the facility. The proposed easement encompasses a 15-foot width extending from the public right-of-way to the meter location on the southern side of the building.

TECO prepared this agreement formalizing the easement. Staff recommends that the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute this agreement to ensure uninterrupted electrical service and compliance with utility standards.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with TECO, granting a utility easement for the provision of electric services to the Solid Waste and Utilities Building.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no anticipated cost to the City associated with this agreement.
