AGENDA REPORT
DATE: September 8, 2025
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Lift Station 7 (new Lift Station 56) Contract Change Order No. 4
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On February 10, 2025, the City Commission authorized the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 3 with Killebrew to cover the additional construction costs associated with the redesign to address the sinkhole stabilization and the unbuildable conditions discovered during construction. The cost for the restoration of Grant Street was not included in that cost.
The wet well, gravity main, force main, and site piping have been installed. Currently, electrical, instrumentation, and controls are being installed at the lift station. The expected completion for the remaining new lift station work is in late September 2025.
Killebrew and their subcontractors have reviewed the restoration plan for Grant Street and submitted a proposal for $633,204.51. The costs will be shared between Streets and Utilities as follows: $432,543.79 charged to Streets and $157,406.35 charged to Utilities.
Staff reviewed Killebrew, Inc.'s proposal and determined that the costs are in line with the work required to complete the construction of the lift station project, including roadway restoration.
While the project is titled Lift Station 7, it was determined existing Lift Station 7 would need to remain in operation and the new lift station would be named Lift Station 56.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No.4 with Killebrew, Inc., in the amount of $633,204.51 for the restoration of Grant Street.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in CIP # UM020 – Lift Station Upgrade/Replacement and CIP# ST026 – Street Resurfacing 1 mil.
