DATE:                                          October 13, 2025

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Revenue Service Agreement For Auctioneer Services

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The City of Plant City’s Fleet Management Division is seeking approval to piggyback the City of Fort Lauderdale’s existing contract with Royal Auction Group, Inc. for auction services related to surplus vehicles and equipment. This agreement will allow the City to utilize a qualified vendor to manage the pick-up, transport, and sale of City-owned surplus assets through public auctions, on an as-needed basis.

The vendor will handle all logistics associated with the auction process. This approach provides an efficient and cost-effective method for asset disposal, while ensuring transparency and maximizing returns. By utilizing an existing competitively procured contract, the City avoids the time and expense of initiating its own bid process.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commision approve this piggyback agreement with Royal Auction Group, Inc. to support effective fleet and equipment management while generating revenue from surplus assets.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This is a revenue-generating agreement. There is no upfront cost to the City. The vendor will deduct a commission or service fee from the auction proceeds, with the net revenue returned to the City. The funds generated will be returned to the Fleet Fund or other appropriate departmental accounts, depending on the asset being sold.
