AGENDA REPORT
DATE: October 13, 2025
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: GPS Monitoring Service from Motive Technology
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On February 26, 2024, the City Commission approved a new contract with LB Technologies for continued GPS monitoring of our fleet. Since that time, the quality of equipment and service has deteriorated while overall industry technology has improved. The Fleet Management Division has explored various options and feels it is in the City's best interest to cancel the existing contract with LB Technologies and enter into a new one with Motive Technologies, Inc. An agreement with Motive Technologies, Inc. will provide the City with superior tracking software and equipment, as well as adding dash cams to some vehicles, at a significantly lower rate than other vendors.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement (25-070FM-EC-PB) with Motive Technologies, Inc. through a piggyback contract of Sourcewell Master Agreement 102924 effective October 1, 2025 and expiring April 23, 2029, in the amount of $98,256.00 annually, based on current fleet size, to include GPS montitoring service and dash cams.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The monthly cost is budgeted in Object #446040 - Maintenance of Motor Equipment by the various departments that have GPS tracking in their respective units.
