SUBJECT: UWHCA with FDOT for FPID 450339-1 US92 (SR600) from
Eureka Springs Road to Thonotosassa Road
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is working on the design for roadway improvements along US 92/SR 600 between Eureka Springs Road and Thonotosassa Road (FPID 450339-1). The project scope includes resurfacing, sidewalk enhancements, roadway lighting, signalization, signing, and pavement marking.
During FDOT's design review, the City's Utilities Department identified conflicts between the existing 12-inch City water main and the proposed drainage structure at N. Woodrow Wilson Street and US 92/SR 600. To resolve these conflicts and mitigate future maintenance concerns, the water main must be lowered.
Because the water main lies within FDOT's project limits, the City determined the most cost-effective and efficient approach is to incorporate the relocation into FDOT's contractor's scope of work. This strategy ensures the adjustment is completed in coordination with FDOT's construction schedule, thereby avoiding potential delays and reducing overall project costs.
The Utility Design and Work by Highway Contractor Agreement (UWHCA) is required and FDOT's consultant and contractor will provide design and construction services to relocate the City's water main. The estimated design cost is $49,462.18, and the estimated construction cost is $70,525.40, for a total of $119,987.58. Upon approval of the UWHCA, the City will deposit these funds with FDOT.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the Mayor and City Manager to execute the Utility Design and Work By Highway Contractor Agreement with Florida Department of Transportation for FPID 450339-1 US92 (SR600) from Eureka Springs Road to Thonotosassa Road.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund, CIP # UM009 - IMPLEMENT- FDOT - ROW.
