SUBJECT: Plant City Housing Authority Board Appointment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The terms for Plant City Housing Authority Commissioners, Michael Lopez and Marlene Baskin ends on January 1, 2026. Mr. Lopez is seeking reappointment; however, Ms. Baskins is not seeking to be reappointed.
The Housing Authority staff advertised the seats for a period of 30 days with no applications received to date. Therefore, advertisement will continue for Ms. Baskins seat.
Florida law provides that the “Mayor, with the approval of the governing body” makes appointments for Housing Authority members. After reviewing the matter, Mayor Kilton has chosen to reappoint Michael Lopez, subject to the approval of the City Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt resolution approving the reappointment of Michael Lopez to the Plant City Housing Authority for a four-year term commencing on January 1, 2026.
