SUBJECT: Resolution appointing a member to the Plant City Housing Authority.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The term for Plant City Housing Authority Commissioner, Marlene Baskin ended on January 1, 2026. As Ms. Baskin did not seek reappointment and no applications were received in response to the November advertisement, the advertisement period was extended, resulting in the receipt of one application from Mr. Lucious Sykes, Jr.
Florida law provides that the “Mayor, with the approval of the governing body” make the appointment for Housing Authority members. Pursuant to Florida law, one Commissioner must be a tenant.
After reviewing, Mayor Kilton has chosen to appoint Lucious Sykes, Jr., subject to the approval of the City Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution approving the appointment of Lucious Sykes, Jr. to the Plant City Housing Authority Board to serve a four-year term.
