SUBJECT: Modification #1 - Planteen Recreation Center and Winter Visitor Center Demolition
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Utilizing the City’s continuing contracts for construction management services, staff developed Construction Work Order (CWO) 21-024PU-RR-09 with Charles Perry Partners, Inc. for building and property demolition services, which was approved by the City Commission on October 13, 2025.
As a part of the demolition scope, Charles Perry Partners, Inc. conducted an asbestos survey on the Planteen Recreation Center and the Winter Visitor Center buildings, with the assistance of Gallagher Bassett. The survey findings highlighted several asbestos containing materials within both buildings that require remediation before demolition can commence. Charles Perry Partners, Inc. received a proposal from Environmental Construction Inc. to perform this remediation work. A modification to the CWO is needed to continue the demolition of both buildings.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Modification #1 to the Construction Work Order 21-024PU-RR-09 with Charles Perry Partners Inc., in the amount of $36,791.53.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in CIP #RC013 - Planteen Community Center
