SUBJECT: Resolution authorizing the Executive Director to execute an agreement between the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Plant City and the Improvement League of Plant City, Inc.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
A one-time, matching Rehabilitation Grant in the amount of $250,000 is requested by The Improvement League of Plant City, Inc., to support the restoration and elevation of the Bing Rooming House Museum, located at 205 South Allen Street in Plant City. This request is in response to significant structural damage sustained during Hurricane Milton in 2024.
The proposed project includes comprehensive rehabilitation of both the interior and exterior of the historic structure to restore safety, enhance structural stability, improve accessibility, and preserve its historic integrity. The project also includes elevation of the building’s foundation to reduce vulnerability to future flooding events. The CRA’s contribution is conditioned upon The Improvement League securing additional funding through donations and other grant sources.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Community Redevelopment Agency authorize the Executive Director to execute an agreement between the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Plant City and the Improvement League of Plant City, Incorporated, for the amount of $250,000 conditioned upon the Improvement League of Plant City obtaining funding from additional sources in a matching amount of $250,000.
