SUBJECT: Approval of Interlocal Agreement (ILA) Regarding 911 User Fees
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City of Plant City receives annual funding from Hillsborough County to support the 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) operated by the Plant City Police Department. The annual funding transfer will be accomplished via an Interlocal Agreement. Once the interlocal agreement is executed, this year (2027), the City of Plant City will receive $134,522.00.
This agreement enables the distribution of 911 user fees to support Plant City's 911 Operations Center. Specified uses of these funds includes 911 telecommunicator salalries, 911 telecommunicator education and training and other authorized expenses as described in Florida State Statute 365.172 (10). The City Commission must approve this agreement before the funds can be distributed to the City. The City of Plant City has received the 911 User Fees for several years.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an ILA between the City of Plant City and Hillsborough County for the distribution of 911 User Fees.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds will be deposited into the General Fund, Org # 00130000, Obj # 334220 - 911 User Fees. These funds will be used in accordance with the terms of this agreement and applicable state statutes to support the Plant City Police Department's 911 PSAP. There is no local match required to receive the funds allocated under this agreement.
