DATE: September 28, 2026
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Fire Station 1 Roof Improvements
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City’s Fire Stations have a combination of both flat and pitched roofs. In 2022, Fire Station 1’s flat roof was replaced but in October of 2024, Hurricane Milton severely damaged the metal pitched portion of the roof. After providing information to the City’s insurance providers as well as FEMA, a repair/replacement value of $126,134.00 was approved by FEMA in June of this year.
Utilizing a piggyback option on Omnia Contract R230402, staff have developed Work Order # 26-057FM-PB-01 with Best Roofing Services for a complete replacement of the metal portion of the roof at Fire Station 1 in the amount of $121,197.86.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Work Order 26-057FM-PB with Best Roofing Services, in the amount of $121,197.86.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the City Roofing Asset Maintenance project GS004.
