SUBJECT: New Community Center Design and Construction
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On July 28, 2025, the City Commission authorized an Architectural Work Order (AWO)
22-011-01A-04 with ASD|SKY to produce a conceptual design and feasibility analysis to construct a new community center to replace the Planteen Recreation Center. Staff received the completed deliverable from ASD|SKY in February 2026 and is prepared to move forward.
The next step in the process is to secure a vendor to provide design development and production of construction documents. Due to the projected dollar amount of the construction, Florida's Consultants Competitive Negotiation Act requires these services to be competitively awarded. Staff is prepared to publish a Request for Qualification (RFQ) to secure a vendor to provide these services.
Once the RFQ process is complete, next steps will include contractor selection, permitting, and construction.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt a resolution authorizing staff to proceed with the Request for Qualification process to design a new community center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Expenses will be recorded in CIP # RC013- Planteen Community Center Replacement
