SUBJECT: Cancellation of Grant Agreement 23PLN126 with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to perform a Flood Vulnerability Assessment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On October 23, 2023 the City Commission authorized Grant Agreement 23PLN126 with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (Department) for a Flood Vulnerability Assessment (VA).
Following approval of the grant agreement, staff learned of a VA managed by Hillsborough County (County VA), which encompasses unincorporated Hillsborough County and the three municipalities. Rather than duplicate efforts and expend grant funds for nominal additional benefit, staff began participation in the County’s Steering Committee and discussions with County and Department staff to coordinate combining the activities.
The attached letter requests cancellation of agreement 23PLN126 contingent on final execution of a modification to the County’s VA grant agreement for inclusion of the City.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute and submit the attached letter to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection requesting cancellation of Grant Agreement 23PLN126, contingent on final execution of a modification to the County’s VA grant agreement for inclusion of the City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No funds have been expended or encumbered in association with this agreement, and there is no cost associated with cancellation of this agreement.
