DATE:                                          July 28, 2025

TO:                                          City Commission

FROM:                                          Bill McDaniel, City Manager

SUBJECT:                     Planteen Recreation Center Replacement Conceptual Design

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

In Fiscal Year 2023, the City Commission approved a CIP to begin design and construction of a new community center to replace the existing Planteen Recreation Center, Winter Visitor Center, and to reimagine the entire property.

The future community center would be a multi-story building featuring classrooms, an event space, multipurpose areas, a lobby, a fitness center, locker rooms, a commercial kitchen, outdoor spaces, and an aquatics space.

Utilizing the City's continuing contracts for architectural services, staff developed Architectural Work Order (AWO) 22-011-01A-04 with ASD|SKY for architectural design, programming, planning, and feasibility analysis. Community feedback, public meetings, and stakeholder meetings will be included in the design process. The not-to-exceed cost for this work is $84,595.00 and time for completion is 14-16 weeks from Notice-To-Proceed.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute AWO 22-011-01A-04 with ASD|SKY for $84,595.00 to provide architectural design, programming, planning, and feasibility analysis for a new community center.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds are available in the CIP RC013- Planteen Center
