AGENDA REPORT
DATE: January 10, 2022
TO: City Commission
FROM: Bill McDaniel, City Manager
SUBJECT: Design of Replacement Lift Station No. 7
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Lift Station No. 7 (LS7), located at 1104 Grant Street, was built in 1962. It no longer functions as designed, is costly to maintain, and does not have enough capacity to support the growth of the City. Additionally, the Parkside Townhome Development (PTD), currently under development review, will discharge wastewater into the LS7 basin, promoting the need for increased capacity. Park Square Homes, the developer of PTD, agreed to transfer a parcel to the City for Lift Station No. 7. The development is in final plat, which includes the LS parcel. If the parcel dedication does not move forward, this EWO will be canceled.
Using the City's continuing contracts for engineering services, staff developed Engineering Work Order 21-020-01K-01 with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc., for the design, permitting, developer coordination, bid assistance, and construction administration of the replacement Lift Station. The not-to-exceed fee for these services is $170,386.00 and 100% construction documents are anticipated in approximately 6 months.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute Engineering Work Order 21-020-01K-01 with Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc., for $170,386.00, for the design of Replacement Lift Station No. 7.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Water/Sewer Fund, CIP # UM020 - Lift Station Replacement.
